Teaching Staff
NICK COMPAGNONE, Ph.D.,
serves as Superintendent of Schools
for the 16 Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Salina, including Sacred Heart
Grade School of Plainville. Dr. Compagnone has 38 years of experience in
education and has served on many state and national level committees and
held various prestigious offices in educational organizations over the
years. In addition to his duties as diocesan superintendent, Dr. Compagnone
serves as Director of St. Mary's Grade School and Sacred Heart Junior/Senior
High School in Salina.
FR. GALEN LONG is the new pastor of Sacred Heart
and St. Thomas parishes. He has many years experience as pastor of
parishes with schools and welcomes the opportunity to become acquainted with
our school and parish families and to become involved in the daily
operations of the school. He has been very active over the years with
Catholic youth groups and is eager to work with our young people.
CAROL PARKER
has been the principal of Sacred Heart Grade School since 1989. She began
teaching in 1972, and has spent 31 of those years at SHGS. She earned both
Bachelors and Masters Degrees at Fort Hays State University, and a master
catechist certificate through the Diocese of Salina. She and her husband
Bob have two sons.
JO ANN BEAN
began teaching Preschool and Kindergarten at SHGS
in 2002. Previous to that she taught in the Osborne and Lucas-Luray school
districts, in addition to being director of her own daycare and preschool.
She holds a Bachelors Degree from Kansas State University. She and her
husband Ted make their home in Luray and have four children.
LAURA FOSS
began teaching first grade at SHGS in 1997, having previously taught fifth
grade one year at SHGS and one year in Korea while her husband was in the
service. She earned both Bachelors and Masters Degrees at Fort Hays State
University, and a basic catechist certificate through the Diocese of
Salina. She and her husband Kendall have one daughter.
JUNE MONGEAU
began teaching third grade at SHGS in 1975; she is currently the second
grade teacher. She earned a Bachelors Degree from FHSU and a basic
catechist certificate through the Diocese of Salina. She and her husband
Keith have three children.
TRACI JOHNSON
began teaching third grade teacher at SHGS in
2002. She holds a Bachelors Degree from FHSU. She and her husband JJ have
two children.
MARGARET WILSON
begins her first year of teaching fourth grade at SHGS. She holds a Bachelors Degree
in Elementary Education from FHSU and a Bachelors Degree in Music from SW
Oklahoma State.
She and her husband Jerry have one daughter.
DEIRDRA KUHLMANN
began as fifth grade at SHGS in 2006. Previous to that she had experience
teaching at the preschool, primary, and junior high levels, plus experience as an elementary school
paraprofessional. She holds a Bachelors Degree from FHSU. She and her
husband Jack make their home in Stockton and have one son.
SARA VON FELDT
began as sixth grade
teacher at SHGS in 2005. She earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration
and two Bachelors Degrees from FHSU, and a master catechist certificate
through the Diocese of Salina. She makes her home in Hays.
KATHY LOSEY
began her duties as SHGS library/media director in 1985. She received her
Bachelors Degree from FHSU. She and her husband Dave have two children.
THEA BALDWIN
began her duties as Physical Education teaching
aide at SHGS in 1995. The role of music director was added to these
duties in 1996. She holds a Bachelors Degree from Kansas State University.
She and her husband Steve have five children.
2008-2009 Support Staff
THERESA KRILEY
began her role as Food Service Director the fall of 1989.
Assisting in the Food Service Dept. is DENISE GANOUNG, who is in her
ninth year at SHGS. They provide us with "daily bread" for our
bodies and souls each day.
SHIRLEY ROHLEDER
began her career at the school as preschool aide in 1986, and then took on
bookkeeping duties for the school and church the next year. Shirley
joined the school staff on a more full-time basis in 1996 when she became school secretary. She now occupies the office of financial
secretary for Sacred Heart Church and School of Plainville, St. Thomas
Church of Stockton, and St. Ann Church of Zurich.
CHUCK ARNOLD
began as part-time custodian in 1996, but soon took on full custodial and maintenance duties in the school
and has remained an ever-present helpful member of our staff ever since.
BOB DINKEL
has performed the duties of groundskeeper for Sacred Heart Church and School
since 1999. He also is in charge of routine maintenance at the church
and
rectory and convent, and sometimes aids in maintenance jobs at St. Ann's.
CHARLENE JONES
began volunteering part-time as a classroom aide in 1996, but in 1998 Charlene was hired as full-time classroom and clerical
aide. She also helps with summer cleaning jobs around the school.
JERRY SCHRANDT, RN,
has worked on a consultative basis as school nurse at SHGS since 1983,
performing routine health screenings, maintaining health records, and
offering medical advice when needed.
Additionally, we are blessed
with many wonderful volunteers who help our staff with classroom activities,
field trips, maintenance projects, and anything else needed to make SHGS one
of the finest academic institutions in the Salina Diocese.
